Our Christmas Eve Tablescape 2017 and Centerpieces

Celebrating, this Christmas, was a difficult time for my husband with the loss of his only daughter, to cancer, last March and for my daughters who lost their dad a year ago, last November. We, also lost all contact with my daughter's twins who are being kept from seeing legit reason, just child brainwashing and our side of the family has been erased. Sorry, for the little "downer", but not mentioning their losses would be like erasing them all from our lives....we are heartbroken and we miss them terribly!

Now, on to a happier oldest daughter and her husband were able to be with us so, of course I had to make it nice and pretty.
A cranberry and white theme carried over from the living room and into the kitchen.
Mini mason jars were filled with olive oil, pomegranate seeds and cranberries and topped off with a floating candle wick. A wrap of red and white baker's twine and a snip of evergreen completed the votives for a simple addition to the table.

I tried them out on ourlazy susan a few days before the tablescape was made.
Naturally, I went with a red, and white theme for the night.

This view shows our window view.

Name tags were made last minute...lucky I had them in my stash!

Tanya got to take home the vase and flowers....
so, I had to make a quick replacement for the table.

A candid pic of me with my constant companions shadow and the love of my life!

Wishing you a very Happy New Year!

Christmas Extras in the Entry and Around the House

One last post on this years Christmas decor with an array of decorations from around the house.

A very special Christmas card from several years ago got a little frame this year...I paired it with my little sock snowman.

He sits beside a simple gathering on a, brass footed, vanity tray from early 20th century. It was quite a steal for $12!

The details in it are amazing and every display that I've put upon it always makes me smile.

A simple arrangement on top of my re-newed dresser.

The tiniest cross stitch sampler is one that I did about 30 years ago....when my eyes were really, really good. It measures a teenie inch and 1/4 by an inch and 1/2!

Another beautiful reflection with one of my favorite things to collect...mirrors!
Chippy country painted mirrors, gilded Victorian mirrors, etched Venetian glass mirrors, boho style mirrors, I love all day I'll have to share a post on mirrors that I've shared from my collections!

This, simple country one, was the one that had been displayed in our bay window this past fall, until it was time for the Christmas change.

This vintage solid brass clock is one that I "stole" not really, from a re-sale shop for just $9 a while back.

It has a trio of glam acorns for a touch of the season that we admire as we watch tv.

A framed picture hangs on the living room door and will stay around for the rest of winter.

Home Sweet Home was thee house where I grew up!

Christmas touches above the couch in neutral, brass, white and gold.

Now,  pics of the $5 chair

and teddy bears for a bit of nostalgia this year.

I still have a few old, old, bears left from my old large collection.

Sometimes, I just can't make up my mind where things should stay the bear in the basket or on the trunk.

This teddy in a Chistmas boot is actually a newer version. I've been holding on to him 'cause he so darn cute and squishy!

Then burgundy ornaments and greens piled in the trunk.....

until then came, yet, another change!

A kissing ball hangs in the perfect spot on the chandy in the entry.
I added the stencils around the doorway just for this pic in photoshop!

Two pretty views into our room through the gold rhinestone laden mirror.

this one is in the post of our mantel decor.

Neutrals and Cranberry Fill the Mantel and the Tree & Season's Greetings

Sending Christmas and Holiday wishes to you all and hoping that the New Year of 2018 will bring you all the best!

Neutrals and Cranberry fill the mantel and tree this year....

with polar bears and a little straw penguin on a vintage painted pantry box.

Festive glitter makes this version really shine!

Trees in brass and topsy evergreens flank each side of the mantel.....

with deep burgundy mums and ornaments scattered in-betweeen.

I stenciled our intials in gold on the white pom pom stockings, just so Santa will know whos is whos!

Cardinals perch on each for that needed touch of red.

A tobacco basket fills the wall above.....

with a snowman painted, teardrop crystal, dangling from a simple wreath of berries.

Glass paint is a more permanent medium to use when painting on glass. I just used basic acrylic so I can wash it off and use it plain or perhaps paint something different on it.

A vintage child's suitcase holds a handcrafted basket filled with painted pinecones and acorns.

A little change was made in our bay window decor and this chubby cardinal found a new place to perch!

More of the same fill a gathering basket made by the same crafter.

I had the urge to have a tiny tree this year, mostly because I wanted to display it inside this Serena and Lily grass basket.

Golden glitter acorns, tiny white snowballs with garlands of bells, pearls and cranberries are simple hangings on the tree...
with a rope nest filled with book page curls and snow white pearls just waiting for a little bird.

and then....miracles do happen!

A small white sled on the coffee table as a festive display.

It all looks so pretty with the twinkling lights at night.....

and just a beautiful by day.

One last look through the mirror at the tree... a festive mirrored reflection always makes me swoon!

In case you missed these recent posts...this Christmas dinner for 15 is here

and the wheelbarrow in our bay window post is here.
 and until next time
